Officials appear in Assassin's Creed II.

When Ezio commits crimes against the corrupt men, they contract this oficials, that are normally respected members of the society, to declare that they have seen personally Ezio commiting the crimes they atribuite to him, without be true witneses.

They are involved in the Notoriety system and killing one will silent them prmanently of his false statements, lowering your notoriety by 75%. Warning- Officials are usually aware of your appearance and will flee on sight, approach stealthily and/or quickly.
