Odyssey (epic poem)
The Odyssey was a book written by Homer, obtained by Ezio Auditore da Firenze in the 16th century from one of Constantinople's many bookshops.
Summary
A 9th century BCE poem, passed on initially through the oral tradition, that recounts the adventures of King Odysseus as he attempts to return home after a decade of war. Sadly, things do not pan out well for the king and he spends another decade battling Gods, Giants, Sirens, Cyclopses, and all the while wondering if his wife hasn't sold the house and moved back with her parents.
Trivia
- During Sequence 2 of Assassin's Creed III, the Templar Haytham Kenway makes mention of Odysseus when deliberating strategy with his fellow conspirators. This is likely due to Odysseus' plan to infiltrate Troy while hiding inside a hollow wodden horse which the Greeks had offered as a gift. Haytham's plan to sneak into Southgate Fort under the guise of Redcoats transporting a convoy of Native prisoners could be similiar in comparison.
