Nyoiji Daiji Temple

Nyoiji Daiji Temple was a rundown Buddhist temple situated in the Hills of Meeting in Yamashiro, Japan.

History

In 1582, the Kakushiba ikki members Fujibayashi Naoe and Yasuke visited the temple and met with its monk Mamushi. The old monk lambasted about his duty of disproving claims of yōkai around the land. Asking them to help him with the remaining claims, they agreed to help. After clearing the last mystery, the pair returned to the temple at night to inform Mamushi.[1]

However, the temple was quiet as Naoe and Yasuke entered and found Mamushi dead with a woman standing over him. Recognizing her as the woman from Kabasaka Village, she turned around, revealed herself to be an Ao Andon, a true yōkai, and attacked the pair. However, Naoe and Yasuke managed to defeat the Ao Andon, who disappeared into blue smoke, but were proven wrong of yōkai's existence.[1]
