Monument of Militiades

The Monument of Militiades was monument featuring a group of bronze statues located in the southeastern corner of the Sanctuary of Delphi in Phokis, Greece.

History

The monument was erected by Athenians in 465 BCE to commemorate the Battle of Marathon, which occurred in 490 BCE during the Greco-Persian Wars, and especially the strategos Miltiades, who is best known for his role in the conflict.

During the Peloponnesian War, the monument was visited by the Spartan misthios Kassandra.
