Marsilio Ficino (19 October 1433 – 1 October 1499) was an Italian scholar, priest and influential humanist philosopher of the early Renaissance.

Ficino worked under the patronage of Lorenzo de' Medici, the leader of Florence. Known as a freethinker, he associated with Lorenzo at the latter's Villa Careggi.
