Maria Theresa of Spain (1638 – 1683) was Queen consort of France through her marriage to Louis XIV.

In 1670, with financial support of the Chancellor Etienne d'Aligre, Maria founded the Hópital de La Charité in Paris with the aim of providing shelter to the abandoned children living on the streets.[1]
