Lucy Thorne (8 August 1837 – 1868) was a British Templar active in London during the Industrial Revolution. She studied multiple journals, books and tokens from which she extrapolated the locations of Pieces of Eden and set out to collect them.
Biography
Sometime during the 19th century, Lucy acquired an occult manuscript, reportedly detailing the location of a mystical object, in an auction, outbidding Crawford Starrick in the process.[1]
In 1868, Thorne traveled to Croydon to encourage David Brewster to accelerate his experiment on the Piece of Eden in his possession. She then returned to London to oversee the transportation of a crate full of Assassin documents. However, two Assassins, Jacob and Evie Frye, stole the carriage carrying the crate when Thorne left it unattended. Thorne's men managed to recover the crate but not before the twin Assassins could escape with the crate's valuable cargo.[2]
Thorne later investigated Edward Kenway's mansion for any information leading to the Shroud of Eden. However, Evie and Henry Green infiltrated the mansion and found a hidden passage below the piano room. When Thorne discovered this, Green sealed the passageway, and by the time Thorne managed to force her way in, the Assassins had escaped. Lucy had traced the location of a potential lead to the vault containing the Shroud to the spire of St. Paul's Cathedral. However, she was beaten to the lead by Evie, which turns out to be a key. After a brief tussle, Lucy escaped with the key in hand.[2]
Thorne later assured Starrick that she was close to finding the Shroud, listening as he played his piano in mourning for the death of his cousin Pearl at the hands of Jacob Frye.
Believing that the key could open a chest in Queen Victoria's possession, Lucy Thorne forced her way into the Tower of London, replacing several Royal Guards with her men, and even imprisoning a Constable. Despite these precautions, however, she was assassinated by Evie Frye,[2] though still refused the Assassin any knowledge of the Shroud's whereabouts.
