Herodotos and Kassandra at the Lion

The Lion of Leonidas was a memorial to King Leonidas I of Sparta. A statue of a lion backed by pillars, it was set where the king was first laid to rest after the Battle of Thermopylae in Malis, Greece. The king's remains were eventually moved to a tomb in his home city.[1]

In 431 BCE, the misthios Kassandra, granddaughter of Leonidas, visited the memorial to meet with Herodotos.[1]
