Amulius was the legendary king of the city-state Alba Longa and the great-uncle to the twins Romulus and Remus. According to myth, he was responsible for sentencing the infants to death.[1] After the twins managed to survive and grow to adulthood, he had Remus caught and imprisoned in his residence. Romulus then infiltrated the location to free his brother and assassinated Amulius.[2]
