Lato was an ancient city situated within the region of Pephka on the island of Crete. In the 5th century BCE, its locals were mesmerized by the myth of the Minotaur that was part of Cretan tradition, and they consequently erected a shrine to the beast which attracted plenty of tourism.[1]
