Ladoga

Lake Ladoga is a lake in northwestern Russia, near Saint Petersburg.

History

By 879, Varangian chieftain of the Rus' Rurik controlled the port at the Ladoga. Azar, the merchant responsible for maintaining the trading routes between the Norse-Gaelic Kingdom of Dublin in Ireland and the 'Rus, kept up with their constant requests for ale and mead.
