La Marseillaise was the national anthem to the French Republic during the French Revolution after the National Assembly declared war against Austria. Originally composed for the army of the Rhine, volunteers marching towards Marseille sang the song and its title and message transformed and it became the rallying sound for the revolution.[1] During the French Revolution, the French Assassin Arno Dorian came across Paris' local taverns and its customers singing the anthem.[2]
