Kōriyama Castle

Kōriyama Castle was a castle in northwestern Yamato, Japan.

History

In 1582, the Kakushiba ikki members Fujibayashi Naoe and Yasuke arrived at the castle after obtaining a stolen holy scripts from rogue Akiyama soldiers. Upon arrival, they heard Tsutsui Junkei almost declare war against Akiyama Ayako and berated the abbot Hara Joken for his incompetence. When they presented the script back, Junkei held off his plans temporaily while Joken thanked them for their help before they left.[1]

At some point, Naoe and Yasuke later returned and infiltrated the castle after learning of Junkei's merchant advisor being part of a conspiracy to create havoc between the Tsutsui and Akiyama clans. Within his small residence, they found an assassinated him and recovered a note about his fellow agent working as a blacksmith and a bow Dragon's Wrath from his personal effects.[2]

While there, Yasuke then discovered and recovered a kamon crest belonging to the Tsutsui clan within the tenshu.[3] They also found and acquired a painting belonging to painter Kanō Eitoku.[4] Then, he and Naoe eliminated four samurai daishos and acquired the Legendary Onna-musha Headband from the castle's chest and later climbed atop the tenshu to survey the province.[5]

Behind the scenes

Historically, the ruins of Kōriyama Castle are now protected as a monument since 2006.[6]
