Kano Painting School

Kano Painting School was a school owned and led by painter Kanō Eitoku situated in eastern Kyoto in Yamashiro, Japan.

History

In 1582, the Kakushiba ikki members Fujibayashi Naoe and Yasuke met with painter Kanō Eitoku at his school as he explained that the current warfare posed a threat to his paintings. Naoe and Yasuke promised to recover his paintings whilst on their travels. After obtaining all the paintings, they returned to Eitoku to give him back his paintings. However, the painter admitted that their place is not with him and that they belonged in the world. Thus, he gifted them to the pair, who planned to give it to the young artist in their league, Junjiro.[1]
