Jörmungandr, also known as the World Serpent is a giant serpent in Norse mythology.

Mythology

He is the son of Loki, and as such is also the brother of the goddess Hel, and the wolf Fenrir.[1]

Legacy

The stories of Jörmungandr became intertwined in Norse culture, as a result Vikings would be tattooed with the serpent for strength in battle.[2]
