Jubair al Hakim
(Arabic: جبير) [Probably a reference to the Arab-Spanish geographer, traveler, and poet Ibn Jubayr (1145 - 1217) (Arabic: ابن جبير)]
Faction: Saracen
Jubair al Hakim is one of the nine people Al Mualim wants Altaïr to assassinate. He is found in the middle district of the city of Damascus.
Description
Also known as the head of The Illuminated, Jubair al Hakim is the Chief Scholar in the city of Damascus. However, his view of literature seems to have become somewhat skewered. Rather than seeking knowledge, The Illuminated hunt down and burn all books and texts within Damascus, believing that such documents are the source of evils such as the war between the Saracens and the Crusaders.
Jubair al Hakim has disdain for the works of many writers such as Plato and Socrates. He is a ruthless man, with little tolerance towards any who oppose him. He believes that the illness of learning must be eliminated, because it simply fixes people, preventing them from finding their true calling.
Death
Jubair was publicly assassinated by Altaïr, in a small garden park courtyard located within Demascus' Middle District. The silent assassin ends his life, shortly after witnessing him burn a large supply of books and scriptures. After shoving a fellow scholar into a burning heap of books Jubair proceeded with leading his men into the streets to continue the burning of all written text. Altaïr makes for the rooftops preparing to silently stalk his prey through the city streets, Jubair and his most loyal followers dressed identical making tracking him down slightly more difficult. Through different methods of tracking and identifying certain character mannerisms Altaïr ruled out the decoys and located Jubair eastward of the Madrasah Al-Kallasah in a small park burning books his students discovered his wife still possessed. In the process of carrying out his duties, the assassin there to claim his life, made his silent approach to strike. Altaïr keenely observed the troublemakers occupying the below alleys at the same time continuing his skillfull watch over his soon to be dead target. Dropping onto a short wall opposite of Jubair and his attention, Altaïr primes his Hidden Blade and himself to strike the chief scholar who remains unaware of the suffocating danger around him. In a brief moment there is small window of opprtunity, instinctively knowing when it was time Altaïr swiftly paced behind and towards Jubair focusing on a vital spot and choosing his heart Altaïr quickly grabs the scholar from behind and before his presence is truly noticed extends the Hidden Blade and stabs him from behind instantly puncturing the body's vital blood pumping supply shutting it down instantly which of course results in instant death.
