Jean-Philippe Lauer on the site of Saqqara in 1939

Jean-Philippe Lauer (1902 – 2001) was a French architect and Egyptologist.

Lauer devoted his life to exploring the Djoser's funerary complex. In 1934 he found a left foot inside Djoser's Step Pyramid, which he believed belonged to the pharaoh whose mummy was never found.[1]
