James Weeks (died 28 May 1864[1]) was a free African-American dockworker from Virginia who founded the historic neighbourhood of Weeksville in Brooklyn, New York City in 1838, 11 years after the final abolition of slavery in New York State.[2] He was also a descendant of the Templar Jack Weeks active during the Seven Years' War, details of his relation to Jack and his founding of Weeksville was included in a 2014 database entry of Jack Weeks created for the viewing of an Abstergo Entertainment Helix research analyst.[3]
