Hospice des Enfants Trouvés
The Hospice des Enfants Trouvés, also known as the Hôpital des Enfants-Trouvés, was a hospital in Paris, France.[1]
Founded in 1638 by the Catholic priest Vincent de Paul, the hospital was a response to the thousands of children abandoned in Paris.[1] In 1670, Queen Maria Theresa, with the financial support of the Chancellor Etienne d'Aligre,[2] officially annexed it to the General Hospital of Paris, effectively helping fund it.[1] A subsidiary establishment would eventually be built on the forecourt of Notre-Dame.[2]
