Alopex was an Elean man living in the streets of Sanctuary of Olympia in Elis, Greece.
During the 428 BCE Olympic Games Alopex ran a scam with Maia and other streets kids: while Alopex distracted their victim, the children stole their drachmae. This lasted until they robbed the Spartan misthios Kassandra. While Kassandra chased after Maia, Alopex slipped away. He made it to Endymion Camp in the Psophis Foothills, south of the Sanctuary of Olympia, and met with the Athenian Captain who was forcing Alopex and the children to steal for him.[1]
Unknownst to the men, Kassandra had caught up with Maia and learned from her about the Captain and his antics. Maia reminded Kassandra of her friend Phoibe, and the misthios decided to help the girl. Kassandra made her way to the camp, too, and overheard a conversation between Alopex and the Captain, and then slew the Captain. She also freed the children the man had kept in the cages at the camp, and reclaimed the necklace of Maia's mother.[1]
