Herakles' Mace

Herakles' Mace was a legendary club fashioned after the club born by the legendary hero Herakles in the Greek mythology. Like its mythical counterpart, this club was made from a single, solid piece of olive wood, its end carved to resemble a roaring lion's head.
During the Peloponnesian War, the mace was held in a chest within the Temple of Demeter and Kore in Arkadia. The Spartan misthios Kassandra infiltrated the heavily guarded temple, and claimed the mace for herself.[1]
