Hares are small, herbivorous animals belonging to the Lepus genus. Hare species are native to Africa, Europe,Asia, North America, and the Japanese archipelago.

History

During the American Revolution, the Assassin Ratonhnhaké:ton could hunt hares in the Frontier, and sell their furs, meat, and feet for money at general stores.
