The Hagia Sofia, formerly known as the Sancta Sophia, was a former Eastern-Orthodox basilica located in the Imperial district of the city of Constantinople. Following the fall of Constantinople in 1453, it was converted into a mosque by Mehmed II. It was also used as a library.

Trivia

  • According to writer Darby McDevitt, there is "something very special buried beneath the marble floors" of the Hagia Sophia.[1]
  • There is an achievement in Assassin's Creed: Revelations for climbing Hagia Sofia from its base to the pinnacle in under 25 seconds.
  • Hagia Sofia is a challenge level in Revelations.
