Alfred Ernest Albert (1844 – 1900) was Duke of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha from 1893 to 1900. He was the second son and fourth child of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert.

Biography

On 22 May 1867, Queen Victoria wrote to Alfred's older brother Edward, informing him that she would not be naming Alfred Constable of the Round to Tower, due to not living in England and due to the income not being necessary to him, deciding to give the post instead to Prince Victor of Hohenlohe-Langenburg.[1]
