Cuttoe Sword

The French cuttoe or the Cuttoe Sword was a hanger sword of French design used during the 18th century.

During the French and Indian War, the Templar Shay Cormac acquired a sword and a shorter but otherwise identical parrying dagger from a treasure chest in Fort de Sable on the North Atlantic.[1] Around the same time, another pair of sword and dagger was purchased by him.

Templar Haytham Kenway and assassins Ratonhnhaké:ton[2] and Aveline de Grandpré[3] also purchased their cuttoe swords in general stores, many of which offered the weapon throughout the colonies, including in Boston, New York, New Orleans, the River Valley, the North Atlantic or the Frontier.
