Prince Frederick, Duke of York and Albany (Frederick Augustus; 1763 – 1827) was the second son of George III of the United Kingdom and Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz.

In 1787, Frederick inherit the Dover House from Sarah Lethieullier, the widow of the late politican Matthew Fetherstonhaugh who died in 1774. Under his ownership, he renovated the mansion, giving it its signature portico and ciruclar hall. Later in 1792, he traded the home for Lord Melbourne's home in Piccadilly.[1]
