Francis Marion
Francis Marion (c. 1732 – 27 February 1795) was an officer in the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War. He survived the May 12, 1780 siege of Charleston by escaping from a drinking party and wounding himself in the process. As he recovered he led a ragtag band of farmers, slaves, Native Americans, and former Continental soldiers in ambushing British patrols outside of occupied Charleston, South Carolina. His nickname to many locals and to the British military was the 'Swampfox.'
He lived in South Carolina and led a guerrilla unit in the colony after the Patriots had deserted it, becoming known as the "Swamp Fox." The Assassin Connor was concerned by Marion's methods and sent his recruits to stop him.
