France is a prominent country situated in Western Europe, and shares a border with northern Italy, and north eastern Spain . During the Renaissance, it was ruled by King Louis XII from his capital in Paris. At the same time, a guild of the Assassin Order was based in Paris and received aid from Ezio Auditore da Firenze's Italian guild for several important assassination contracts. By the year 1500, Louis XII had aligned himself with Cesare Borgia and was aiding him in his attempts to unite Italy.
