Fergus' tomb

Fergus Cerrbel (died 480) was an Irish nobleman and a member of the Uí Néill who lived during the 5th century. He was a son of Conall mac Néill and a grandson of Niall of the Nine Hostages. Through him, Fergus was an ancestor of Clann Cholmáin that ruled the Kingdom of Meath.

At some point, Fergus and his brother Ardgal inherited from Conall a figurine, which served as keys to the prized treasure of Cú Chulainn. After dying in 480, Fergus was buried along with the figurine in a dolmen in Ulster.[1]

Centuries later between 879 and 882, Fergus' tomb was explored by the Viking shieldmaiden Eivor Varinsdottir, who recovered the figurine.[1]
