Faunus was a lanista who operated in an amphitheater in Tarraco, Hispania during the 1st century BCE.

Amongst the gladiators under him were the Gaul Albiorix and Thracian Tarbus. Around 47 BCE, a Roman lanista from Cyrene had one of his men contact Faunus for the list of gladiators under his possession.[1]

Trivia

  • The name Faunus in Latin possibly means "to befriend". It was also the name of a Roman Faunus god of fertility, forests and agriculture.
