Sir Alan Henderson Gardiner (1879 – 1963) was an English Egyptologist and linguist. He created a list classifying common hierogylphic signs and their variants.[1]

Behind the scenes

The language that is spoken in the background by the crowds in Assassin's Creed: Origins is largely based on Gardiner's Egyptian Grammar.[2]
