Esteban Rodríguez Miró y Sabater (1744 – 1795) was a Spanish army officer and the governor of the provinces of Louisiana and Florida.[1]

Biography

In 1788, during his tenure as Louisiana governor, a wave of brutal murders led to New Orleans residents accusing anyone without an alibi or lacking strong community ties of being responsible for the massacre. Miró and his soldiers, attempting to maintain order, carried out summary executions of the accused, worsening the situation.[2]
