The Entrance to the Underworld

The Entrance to the Underworld was a cave system in the Parnes Mountains in Attika, Greece. Located in the southern tip of the region, this cave was used by the Followers of Ares as a staging ground.

A natural formation, an underground river passed through the dungeon.

History

During the Peloponnesian War, the Spartan misthios Kassandra explored the place, killed the clan chief, and claimed their valuables. It was also here that Kassandra and Barnabas found Leda, the latter's daughter.

Behind the scenes

The river running through the cave system is reminiscent of Styx, the boundary river separating the world of the living from the Greek underworld in Greek mythology.
