Edward the Confessor
This article is about the King of England from 1042 to 166. For other uses, see Edward (disambiguation).
Edward the Confessor (Old English: Ēadpeard Andettere; Latin: Edwardus Confessor; c. 1003 – 1066) was among the last Anglo-Saxon Kings of England who reigned from 1042 to 1066.
During his reign, he rebuilt the Westminster Abbey, previously a Saxon church, with Romanesque architecture.[1] Within the abbey, he built the church of St. Margaret, which became one of the oldest churches in England.[2]
