Eadwyn

Eadwyn was an Anglo-Saxon lesser-noblewoman who briefly ruled over Oxenefordscire in 873. Following the death of her husband to Danish raiders, she unsuccessfully attempted to regain control over the country, instead being dethroned by Geadric, a more even-handed nobleman. Though she reached out toAlfred the Great for aid, his forces arrived too late to save her chances at winning over the county.
