"The Greek militia are devotees of this short sword."
―Description about the sword.[src]

The Akinakes is a type of short sword used mainly in the 1st millennium BCE. First used by the Iranian peoples, including the Medes, Scythians and the Persians, the sword was introduced to Greece by the 5th century BCE and was used by the militia.

During the Peloponnesian War, the Spartan misthios, Kassandra, could loot the sword from her enemies or purchase it from blacksmiths.[1]
