Aisin-Gioro Hongli (Manchu:ᡥᡠᠩ ᠯᡳ; Chinese: 愛新覺羅·弘曆; 1711 – 1799), the Qianlong Emperor (Chinese: 乾隆帝) was the fifth ruler of the Qing dynasty, reigning from 1735 until his abdication in 1796, although he still maintained power until his death in 1799.

Biography

In February 1725, during the initial breakout of the Shimazu clan civil war in Macau, the Emperor was mentioned by Sun of the Hualien Trading Company who wished to deliver a powerful Piece of Eden from Angkor into the Emperor's hands to curry favor. Sun's Assassin nephew Xiao Han however, hated the Qing Emperor with a passion for how his predecessors persecuted his Order.[1] Sun was ultimately assassinated by Han and thus his plan to deliver it to the Emperor never came to fruition.[2]
