The de la Serre estate was the residence of the de la Serre family, located in northern Le Marais, Paris.
History
On the 14th of July 1789, Élise de la Serre joined the people storming of the Bastille, desperate to reach the estate in time, Élise ran amongst the chaos and found her house ransacked by looters. She told the remaining servants and butlers to go someplace safe while she checked her important belongings. Élise found two men named Hook and Harvey, who were hired by the British Templar Carroll family to eliminate her, but managed to kill them with a distraction from the former British Assasssin Bernard Ruddock, who told her that he had been hired to kill her during her childhood by the Roi des Thunes.[1]

Élise spent her following days drunk and anxious until 25 July 1789 when Arno Dorian arrived at her door, having escaped the Bastille. Contrary to the relief he had expected from her at having survived the revolutionaries' fervor against the nobility, he was instead greeted with accusations of involvement in the murder of her father and his ward François de la Serre. Realizing that his negligence inadvertently caused François' death, Arno left the mansion.[2]
Later the same year on 1 April, after successfully infiltrating the hotel where the Jacobin Club organized a meeting, Arno eavesdropped on a secret meeting where extremist members of the Parisian Templars plotted to eliminate Élise.[3] Having heard this, Arno rushed to the de la Serre estate and broke down the door, only to remember that he had arranged to meet Élise at the Hôtel Voysin instead and ran to intercept the assassination plot.[4]
