In 1718, Woodes Rogers and a British Commodore, Peter Chamberlain [sic] made port in the pirate-controlled colony of Nassau in order to meet with the "governor" of the island and offered them and their men a pardon. During this meeting, Peter Chamberlain threatened to kill all the pirates outright, but was put to ease by Rogers. Being angered by Roger's orders, Chamberlain returned to his ship suspecting a revolt. Chamberlain commanded his armada to form a blockade around the island's main port, in order to stop any pirate that wants to flee (or enter) the island. Before Chamberlain was able to further command his people to attacks all the pirate ships on the island, Edward Kenway reached and killed him. |
