The future site of the famously peculiar Piazza di Spagna, this public expanse at the foot of the Spanish Steps is shaped as an elongated triangle rather than a square. Named after the Spanish Embassy to the Holy See, the Piazza became one of Rome's most popular meeting places.

Notably, the Romantic poet John Keats spent his final hours in a flat overlooking the Piazza. A thing of beauty is a joy forever...except when you're about to die of TB.
