Database: Alamut

When an eagle landed on a nearby rock, Wahsudan ibn Marzuban took it as a sign that the mountain was the destined site for Alamut Fortress. Built in 865, the Fortress' name is possibly derived from Aluh amut and may mean "Eagle's Teaching" or "Nest of Punishment".
