Wang Yangming's Dao

The dao is a singled-edged Chinese sword that is primarly used for slashing and chopping.

History

In 47 BCE, The Duelist, a Chinese gladiatrix working in the gladiator arena in Cyrene, equipped herself with poisonous twin dao. However, she was marked by the Egyptian Hidden Ones and defeated in combat by Hidden Ones' co-founder and leader Bayek of Siwa.[1]

During the Tang dynasty, military personnel and officials wielded their own dao, especially during the civil war, the An Lushan Rebellion.[2]

In the Ming dynasty, Mentor Wang Yangming of the Chinese Brotherhood of Assassins wielded his own personal dao as part of his arsenal.[3]

During the Golden Age of Piracy, French pirate Alonzo Batilla collected a dao sword, a part of his numerous treasures that he acquired from naval combat.[4]
