Agate was the Mentor of the Assassin Order in New Orleans, who also tutored the Assassin Aveline. In his past, he was a former slave who had escaped from jail, and his relationship with Aveline was sometimes tempestuous; he disapproved of her impulsiveness and when she acted without consulting him.
