Aethelwulf (Old English: Æthelwulf; died 858) was King of Wessex from 839 to 858. He was the father of Aethelred and Aelfred. Secretly, he was the Grand Maegester of the Order of the Ancients in England.

Following Aethelwulf's death in 858, the throne and leadership of the Order was inherited by his fourth son Aethelred.[1]
