A cloak is a loose, flowing garment worn over the shoulders typically without sleeves. Its primary function is to provide protection against the elements, such as cold, rain, or wind although it may be worn for the sake of fashion. For this reason, it is normally designed with enough fabric to offer sufficient cover for the wearer in contrast to a cape. ^{[citation needed]}
