Christian of Schleswig-Holstein
Prince Christian of Schleswig-Holstein (Frederick Christian Charles Augustus; 1831 – 1917) was a minor German noble who later married Princess Helena of the United Kingdom in September 1865.
Biography
In an April 1865, Royal correspondence between Helena's mother the Queen Victoria and her uncle Leopold I of Belgium, the Queen mentioned Prince Christian by way of her friend Madeline, Countess Blücher and that they had hope that Helena would marry him and wished to set them up together.[1] They married that September,[2] and by May 1867 had moved to Frogmore with his newly wedded. On 22 May, in a letter penned to her son, the Queen noted her intention to make Christian Ranger of Windsor Park as a pleasant occupation and as assistance to General Truman Seymour.[3]
