Ceremonial Axe

The Ceremonial Axe was a battleaxe adorned with ritualistic iconography and meant for ceremonies more than battle.

During the Peloponnesian War, the Spartan misthios Kassandra found this weapon in the inventories of blacksmiths and looted it from bodies and chests during her travels throughout Greece.[1]

Description
Adorned with ritualistic iconography, this is not so much a battle axe, but a conductor of ceremonies.

Behind the scenes

The Ceremonial Axe in Assassin's Creed: Odyssey shares the same model as a number of other similar axes in the same game, including the Black Axe. These are all recycled models of the Mushussu, a weapon in Assassin's Creed: Origins, which itself was based on a type of axe called "gazelle-headed axe" from the Mughal Empire in the Indian subcontinent. Its appearance in both games is anachronistic.
