Mounted cannons are the mounted version of regular cannons, and are situated on walls and towers. Mario Auditore had them installed in Monteriggioni in anticipation of an attack from the Borgia before they got back from the Vatican Vault in Rome.

} The cannons use black powder to fire a large, metal ball at enemies, dealing large amounts of damage with each strike. Unlike in the game, real-life versions of this cannon would be much slower to reload, requiring more than just the putting of a new cannonball in the barrel. Gunpowder would have to be replaced every time a shot was fired, and both the powder and the cannonball would have to be rammed and packed down in order to prevent an underpowered shot. Additionally, the barrel would have to be sponged out in order to remove any gunpowder residue in the barrel that could cause a variety of problems when firing.

These mounted cannons, along with a sea-assault variation, appear in Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood.
