The giant squid is a large deep-ocean cephalopod with long feeding tentacles An entire animals, including tentacles, can grow to greater than 40 feet (12–13 meters) in length. Giant squids inhabit cold and temperate waters worldwide, almost always at great depths. They are elusive predators that feed on fish and other squid.
Giant squid are known to be dangerous to humans, with some species within the Caribbean rumored to have attacked unsuspecting wreck salvagers.
