Boobies are a group of large seabirds that inhabit tropical and subtropical oceans, nesting on island and cliffs. Their names comes from the Spanish word bobo meaning "stupid", and refers to their generally clumsy appearance.
Boobies have long, narrow wings, pointed bills, and webbed feed. Some species are known for their brightly colored blue feet. They are carnivorous, feeding by plunge-diving for fish and squid.
